Presentation at the information day organized by the Rapla Hard of Hearing Association

On April 14, 2025, the Rapla County Hard of Hearing Association held an information day at the Weinberg Hall of the Rapla Cultural Centre, focusing on supporting the daily lives of people with hearing loss and raising awareness about hearing impairment.

The day was opened by Külliki Bode from the Estonian Hard of Hearing Association with a presentation titled “How to Help People with Hearing Loss?” Her talk provided important statistics on the prevalence of hearing loss in Estonia and offered practical advice on how to recognize and support individuals with hearing difficulties. Bode emphasized that hearing loss is often invisible but can significantly affect daily communication, and it can affect people of all ages.

Our centre’s director, Arvo Kannel, delivered a presentation showcasing the latest hearing assistance technologies, discussing new hearing aids, and introducing rehabilitation services. He also highlighted the importance of proper hearing aid maintenance.

The audience was particularly impressed by the first-time use of real-time machine translation at the information day – the entire presentation was displayed as live subtitles on the screen. This innovative solution improved understanding of the speakers and vividly demonstrated the potential of technology in supporting people with hearing impairments.

Many thanks for the invitation!
